MP heatwave toll rises to 6

Bhopal, June 12: Heatwave thus far claimed six persons in Madhya Pradesh this season and the India Meteorological Department issued a red alert effective for the next 24 hours – vis-a-vis Bhopal, Raisen, Rajgarh, Khargone, Ratlam, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Gwalior, Datia, Guna, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Umaria, Shahdol, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh and Betul districts.

The district-wise break-up of deaths is Sheopur three, Jabalpur, Satna and Bhopal one each. The School Education Department extended summer holidays till June 23.

“Pre-monsoonal activities are likely to commence in Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain divisions in a day or so,” senior meteorologist Ajay Kumar Shukla said here. (UNI)
