MP town sizzles at 46.8 degrees Celsius

Agency News

Bhopal, June 1: Even as Madhya Pradesh these days resembles a brick kiln under an unforgiving summer-afternoon sun, the mercury shattered a 120-year-old record in the cantonment town Jabalpur that sizzled at a maximum of 46.8 degrees Celsius on Friday.

“The temperature was slightly below that mark on May 20, 1954. Then the town recorded 46.7 C. Winds blowing in from Rajasthan and Vidarbha region are causing the extreme weather,” Senior Meteorologist Uday Sarwate said.
