Multitasking: PM says IPL, Fani and fests all handled smoothly

Indore, MP, May 12 : Claiming that his dispensation allowed a mega event such as the Indian Premier League(IPL) and also managed to keep citizens safe during a natural calamity such as Cyclone Fani while the general election progressed in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi averred on Sunday that the then United Progressive Alliance dispensation did not permit the matches at the time of the 2009 and 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

“In those years, the tournament had to be conducted abroad. This time; Navratri, Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Easter and now the holy month of Ramzan have all coincided with the election. The Government handled Fani as well and 12 lakh people were evacuated. All this was achieved due to the regime’s willpower and intention. When every decision is taken in national interest, such is the outcome. On the contrary, Congress actions are determined by dynasticism and the vote bank,” the visiting politician alleged while delivering a late-evening speech at an election rally here.

He placed the rival party in the dock over its leader Sam Pitroda’s words in the context of the 1984 anti-Sikh disturbances.

“During the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls last year, a ‘naamdar’ spoke of ‘Make in Indore’ and ‘Make in Mandsaur’ cellular phones but the assurance was forgotten in the Congress manifesto. Agrarian debt waiver was a farce, electricity supply was drastically reduced and numerous officials transferred,” the Premier said. (UNI)
