Bhopal, Apr 14 : Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister and erstwhile Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharati claimed on Sunday that any Bharatiya Janata Party leader could humble Rajya Sabha Member and former chief minister Digvijaya Singh who is trying his political fortune as the Congress candidate from Bhopal parliamentary constituency.
“(Budhni legislator and ex-chief minister) Shivraj Singh Chouhan, (present local parliamentarian) Alok Sanjar, (Govindpura legislator) Krishna Gaur, (Huzur MLA) Rameshwar Sharma, (State Executive Member) Shailendra Sharma, (city Mayor) Alok Sharma, Mr Bhagwandas Sabnani and (Narela MLA and erstwhile state minister) Vishvas Sarang individually possess that calibre. My contribution was made in the 2003 Assembly elections itself when I evicted the then Chief Minister Singh’s dispensation by a three-fourths majority,” she averred in a release.
This voting area is nothing short of a saffron citadel as the BJP has been ceaselessly emerging victorious here for approximately three decades. Mr Singh was announced as the Congress nominee on March 23. Mr Chouhan has, in a manner of speaking, expressed unwillingness to contest from here. (UNI)
