Bhopal, Apr 10: A case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct has been registered in Jabalpur against Damoh parliamentarian and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Prahlad Singh Patel, three legislators and three others even as a show cause notice was issued to Jabalpur MP and saffron camp candidate Rakesh Singh who also happens to be BJP state President.
On Monday, Mr Singh led a rally to the Collectorate for submitting his nomination papers. The rallyists tore down barricades and entered the prohibited radius of 100 m. While the documents were being proffered, erstwhile chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Assembly’s Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava, former Union minister of state Patel, ex-advocate general Purushendra Kaurav, Mayor Swati Godbole, legislators Indu Tiwari, Ashok Rohani and Ajay Vishnoi, erstwhile minister of state Sharad Jain and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha state President Abhilash Pandey entered the chamber though the rules lay down that only a certain number of persons may accompany the aspirant.
Based on closed-circuit television footage, the case was filed against Patel, Godbole, the MLAs, Jain and Pandey, police said. UNI
