Bhopal, Dec 23 : The members of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s Council are scheduled to be sworn in at Raj Bhavan at 1500 hrs on Tuesday but high-level deliberations are still continuing in the Congress vis-a-vis the names.
A meeting with party President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi was on Mr Nath’s Sunday agenda. Congress sources disclosed that former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh and ex-Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia are also in the national capital and have already met Mr Gandhi.
After taking oath on December 17, Mr Nath tackled crucial files and left for Delhi late Thursday. Another key aspect for discussion comprised the claimants for the post of Congress state chief, a post hitherto held by Mr Nath.
The Assembly has 230 elected members therefore the maximum number of ministers permissible – including the Chief Minister – is 35. According to an estimate, the Council would have in excess of 20 faces for the time being. Mr Nath has already gone on record stating that first-time legislators shall not be granted berths. (UNI)
