Gwalior, MP, Dec 5: A youngster has been placed under arrest while repeatedly demanding Rs 2.5 lakh from the principal-opposition Congress’ Bhind assembly constituency candidate in exchange for hacking electronic voting machines, law-enforcement authorities said on Wednesday.
Neeraj Rathor, who hails from Jalaun and is not highly educated, used an assumed name while calling up Dr Ramesh Dubey on a cellular phone and asked the politician to hand over half the amount in advance. All this made Dr Dubey suspicious but he told the youth to meet him at a restaurant in the vicinity of the railway station and simultaneously alerted the police.
Interrogation was underway at the time of filing of this report. (UNI)
