Retd soldier held for selling arms to Naxals

Jabalpur, MP, Sept 5 : A retired army soldier was arrested from this cantonment town in Madhya Pradesh on the charge of supplying advanced weapons such as AK-47 to Maoists, police said.

“Recently, police arrested Bihar's Munger-resident Irfan with three AK-47 rifles, 30 magazines, pistols and other weapon parts. Munger police informed that Irfan had procured AK-47 assault rifle from a retired soldier in Jabalpur,” said Superintendent of Police Amit Singh.

On the basis of his interrogation, Purushottam Lal – who was residing in Gorakhpur locality here following his retirement from the Ordinance Factory, Khamaria in 2008 – was called for questioning.

He was arrested after he was found to be in possession of objectionable material. (UNI)
