Kerala: Thrissur patient dies of Covid

Thrissur, Jun 8 : A COVID-19 patient, who was under treatment at the Thrissur Medical College, succumbed on Monday taking the death toll due to the pandemic in the state to 17. The deceased has been identified as Dinny Chacko, a Chalakudy native. Dinny, a diabetic patient, had returned from Maldives on May 12.

He was confirmed with COVID-19 on May 16 and was under treatment at the Thrissur Medical college hospital. His wife and son, who travelled together from Maldives had also tested positive. A few days later all of them were tested negative. A few days later Deny Chacko was admitted to hospital with Covid symptoms as he was suffering from acute breathlessness and kidney problems. With Denny's death Thrissur district has reported three Covid deaths.

The first fatality was reported from Chavakkad, second from Engandiyur. Meanwhile, of the total 91 positive cases reported in the state today, the maximum number of 27 were from Thrissur. They included two health workers. A total of 114 are under treatment in hospitals in Thrissur district. With the third death and the maximum Covid cases of 27 from this district today,it is suspected of community spread. The spike in Covid cases is reported at a time when the famous Sree Krishna Guruvayur temple in the district is all set to open for devotees from tomorrow. (UNI)
