Kerala registers one more Covid death

Kozhikode, May 24 : A 53-year old woman, who returned from Dubai early this week, died of Covid-19 at the medical college hospital here on Sunday. With this, the total death due to Covid-19 in the state has gone upto six. Health department sources said the woman has been undergoing treatment for cancer.

The medical college hospital sources said the deceased, Amina, died after her condition worsened and suffered from several complications. She had been undergoing treatment for cancer for some time, sources said.

The lady, a native of Kalpetta in Wayanad district, came to Cochin airport from Dubai, in the Air India Express operated as part of the Vande Bharat evacuation mission, on May 20.

Soon after reaching Calicut, she was admitted to a private hospital here for follow up treatment for cancer. However, after having tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the hospital, she was shifted to the medical college hospital.

Hospital sources said the patient had been on ventilator support since she was brought there on May 20. About the funeral protocol, the health department sources said it would be strictly in accordance with the Covid-19 protocol as she died of the highly contagious disease. (UNI)
