Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan turned 76 on Sunday. It was a quiet birthday this year as he was busy with official work and COVID related matters.
He won the Dharmadam Assembly seat and became the 12th Chief Minister of the State on May 25, 2016. Pinarayi Vijayan, the longest-serving secretary of CPI (M) in Kerala from 1998 to 2015, also served as an Minister of Power and Co-operatives in the E K Nayanar Ministry from 1996 to 1998.
In 1998, he became the party state secretary following the death of the incumbent Chadayan Govindan. He was elected to the Politburo of the CPI (M) in 2002. MORE (UNI)
