Thiruvananthapuram, May 18: Thunderstorm with lightning and accompanied by gusty winds with speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on Monday, sources in Meteorological Centre here said. The sources said thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places from May 19 to 21 in the state.

Meanwhile, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘AMPHAN’ (pronounced as UM-PUN) over central parts of South Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past 06 hours and intensified into a extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm at 0230 hrs IST early today. It is very likely to intensify further during the next 6 hours. It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and move fast across northwest Bay of Bengal and cross West Bengal – Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) during afternoon/evening of May 20 as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.
