Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 21: In the wake of six new Coronavirus positive cases and quarantine of two MLAs in Kasargod district, Kerala Chief Secretary Tom Jose had issued an order warning legal action (under Section 2-1 of the Epidemic Diseases Act-1897) against those who violates precautionary measures against the pandemic.
The Oder gave the power to the District Collector and the District Police Chief for the strict implementation of precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19, sources said here on Saturday.
Based on the order issued on Friday evening, the authorities are in the process of enforcing the shutdown in the district to prevent the gathering of people. Essential services have been exempted from the shutdown and the shops would be opened from 11am to 5pm, it said.
However, the government servants should not leave the Kasargod district and they should report for duty in case the Collector calls them back, the Order said. (UNI)
