Malappuram, Mar 18 : The Toddy shop auction held at the Collectorate here on Wednesday was disrupted in the wake of protests by activists of the Youth Congress and the Youth League.
According to the Youth Congress leaders, the auction, in which about 100 persons had participated, was against the prevailing social isolation norms prescribed and strictly monitored by the district administration. The auction was disrupted after two hours of proceeding when the Youth Congress supporters ransacked the hall and protested.
The police removed the agitators and the auction was suspended at around 12 noon. Later the Youth League workers also staged a protest over the proceedings alleging the event violates the social isolation norms. (UNI)
