Two fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Kerala. This includes an Italian national living in a resort. With this, the total number of cases in the State has gone up to 22.
At a press conference in the State capital on Friday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Health Minister KK Shylaja, the Italian had been staying at a resort in Varkala. The second case identified was of a person from Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram who arrived recently from the UK.
So far, three persons had been discharged from hospital after successful treatment.
According to Pinarayi, 5,468 people were under observation in the State of which 271 were in hospitals.
Of the 1,715 samples collected from suspected cases, 1,132 were confirmed negative, Pinarayi added.
Separately, the Thrissur District Collector said the patient in hospital in the district had been in contact with 385 persons on the basis of tracking.
