The Prime Minister's announcement that he would 'give up' his social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, might have come as as shock to many but the Congress MP,Mr. Rahul Gandhi was quick to take a dig at Mr. Modi, in a reference to the ensuing violence in the country, saying that PM Modi should 'give up hatred'.
The Thiruvananthapuram MP and senior Congress leader, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, took swipes at Mr. Modi, evading apprehensions whether the move could be a 'prelude to banning these services throughout the country'.
'The PM's abrupt announcement has led many to worry whether it’s a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. As Narendra Modi knows well, social media can also be a force for good and for positive and useful messaging. It doesn’t have to be about spreading hate,' Dr. Tharoor said in a strongly-worded post on social media platform Twitter.
On a day Budget Session 2020 resumed, the Prime Minister took to his social media accounts around 9 pm to make the announcement.
