Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 30 : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who took stock of the situation with the reporting of first Coronavirus positive case in the state and also in the country, on Thursday said the State Health Department has initiated a series of measures to tackle the emergency situation.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mr Vijayan said "We have initiated a series of measures to tackle the emergency; contact tracing, case isolation, quality care & community engagement are being done diligently. Care must be taken not to spread rumours on social media," he added. "Minister for Health (@shailajateacher) has briefed me about the situation. We are closely monitoring the situation. While we need to be cautious, there is no need for panic. Our health network is capable of handling any emergencies," he added.
"A patient has been tested positive for Novel #Coronavirus infection and is kept in isolation ward ast Thrissur.The infected patient is a student of Wuhan University. We are closely monitoring the situation," the Chief Minister said. Health Minister KK Shailaja will leave for Thrissur this evening and attend an emergency meeting of health department officials there, he added. (UNI)
