Kerala High Court has ruled that helmets are mandatory for riders and pillions on two-wheelers.
A Division Bench headed by the Chief Justice ordered that the Central Government order on helmets for riders and pillions above the age of four should be implemented.
Since the State Government had not implemented it, the court ruled that it was mandatory for the state to implement it. The State Government had appealed against making the rules mandatory which was withdrawn after the court directive.
The Bench also directed the State Government to issue a circular and also an advertisement through media and in movie theatres.
