Pathanamthitta, Nov 10: Kerala ration shop owners will have to pay the price of the food articles collected for distribution in the state directly to the government from next week, official sources said on Sunday.
"The move is to ease the distribution and ensure transparency in deals," sources said, adding that this would eliminate middlemen and also delay faced in the financial transactions. The owners will be informed online from the concerned taluk supply offices of the required commodities per person to each of the ration shops and its price.
This amount can be directly paid to the treasury account through online. Once the payment, details of shop and owner are recorded, the required amount of stock will reach the shops next day, the sources said. (UNI)
