Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 : Kerala Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution urging the Centre not to sign the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) involving 16 nations in the Asia-Oceania region.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who moved the resolution on Wednesday afternoon said the signing of the agreement will badly affect agriculture, fisheries and small scale industries, which are the backbone of Kerala economy.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala who also opposed the Centre's move to sign the agreement said the RCEP will harm the small scale industries resulting in job loss. However, BJP MLA O Rajagopal kept away from supporting the resolution. (UNI)
