Thrissur, Oct 1 : Industrialist C K Menon died at Appolo Hospital, Chennai on Tuesday. He was 70 and survived by wife and three children.

Hailing from Thrissur, Cheril Krishna Menon was popularly known as C.K.Menon, was the Chairman and Managing Director of Behzad Corporation, ABN Corporation and Ali Bin Naser Al Misnad Transport and Trading in the Middle East, Europe and USA. His commercial involvement stretched from Qatar to UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South America and UK with headquarters in Doha, Qatar for more than 35 years. Menon was also the Vice Chairman of NORKA ROOTS, the Government of Kerala.

Menon was awarded “Padma Shri” in 2009 as recognition to his charitable and social activities in addition to the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman 2006, by Government of India amongst other achievements.

He was born in Thrissur, Kerala, in 1949 to Sree Ramajayam Transport company owner Puliyamkott Narayanan Nair and Cheril Karthyayani Amma.

The body will be brought to Kochi tomorrow morning and later to Thrissur. The funeral will take place at Thrissur Paramekavu Shantighat crematorium at 6pm. (UNI)
