Kochi, Sep 30 : Residents of the four buildings of Maradu complex, set for demolition, had promised the municipal authorities that they will vacate the flats latest by October three.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the residents said it might be delayed for one or two days as they claim that the alternate places to which they were to be shifted are not available immediately.
The residents complained that they were given a few contact numbers by the district authorities for their accommodation, but there was no response when they contacted them.
The residents had begun an indefinite protest on Sunday morning, but called it off on Monday afternoon after discussions with the district authorities.
Meanwhile, Ernakulam sub-collector S K Singh, who was appointed as Special Officer in charge of the demolition, said he will discuss the possibility of damage caused to the neighbours due to the demolition of the building with the concerned people in the second week of October.
Prior to that he will first finalise the tender for demolition, they said. (UNI)
