Coast Guard continues relief operations in Kerala

Kochi, Aug 11: Indian Coast Guard Disaster Response Team (CGDRT) continued to participate in flood relief operations in coordination with Kerala state Disaster Management Authority.

According to defence statement released here on Saturday, "Two CGDRT ex Beypore is engaged in relief operation at Karassery in Kozhikkode district and Wazhakkad in Malappuram district. A total of 570 people have been rescued / evacuated by CGDRTs."
In order to deal a emerging flood situation, Indian Coast Guard had constituted 10 CGDRT at Kochi, three CGDRT at Vizhinjam and one additional team at Beypur with adequate trained Coast Guard men and rescue boats/Gemini/life jackets.

One team ex Kochi is under dispatch with rescue boats to Aluva for undertaking rescue operation.(UNI)
