IAS officer Sreeram Venkataraman has been admitted to the prisoner’s cell at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) by the State police on Sunday.
The move came after the law enforcement drew censure for admitting him to a posh private hospital had referred him to the MCH.
Paramedics and the police have taken Venkataraman to MCH at around 5. 30 p.m. An ambulance took him to the residence of magistrate S.R. Amal who remanded him to the district sub-jail.
Later, a prison doctor suggested that the IAS officer was unfit for incarceration and referred him to a special cell for unwell inmates at the MCH.
A State laboratory is likely to submit the blood test report of the Sreeram Venkataramn officer in court on Monday. Police had collected blood samples from the accused belatedly and his alleged state of inebriation at the time of the collision might never be known.
