Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 26: Members of animal rights activists group have alleged that the City Corporation had failed to ensure safety for pet dogs as a Pomeranian female dog was recently abandoned by its owner citing an illicit relationship with neighbour's dog.
Alleging that irresponsible pet owners are deteriorating the issues of street dogs, they said lack of enforcement helped people who are abandoning their pet go scot free. Volunteer of People For Animals (PFA) Shameem Faruque on Friday said he rescued the Pomeranian dog, abandoned by its owner for the illicit relationship.
Though efforts are on to trace the pet owner, several people are in touch with him showing interest to adopt the abandoned female dog. Recently, a Labrador was abandoned at PTP Nagar here on this cause and it was rescued by PFA activists, showing an increasing trend of owners abandoning their pet animals. (UNI)
