Kerala High Court Monday directed the State Government to allow the entry of private vehicles from Nilakkal base camp to Pamba during the monthly and special pooja days at Sabarimala.
A division bench of Justices CT Ravikumar and N Nagaresh said police had no right to restrict the entry of private vehicles to Pamba from Nilakkal.
All private vehicles, except private stage carriers, should be allowed till Pamba during the monthly and special pooja days at Sabarimala, the court ruled.
This had been an issue during the last season as Nilakkal, under the Sabarimala development plan, is to be developed as the base camp and only state-run buses would be allowed to play from there to Pamba, destroyed in the August 2018 flood.
The court ruled that vehicles should not be parked at Pamba and should return to Nilakkal.
The directive came on a report of the advocate commissioner, seeking a directive to the government to consider lifting curbs on private vehicles.
