In a startling find, police recovered blank answer sheets from the residence of a main culprit in the stabbing of a student by SFI activists at University College in Thiruvananthapuram two days ago.
Main accused and college SFI unit president Sivaranjith, who is on the PSC rank list of those selected for the post of Civil Police Officers, along with several others are absconding.
After issuing lookout notices, police sought necessary permission to raid the houses of the absconding culprits. In the raid at Sivaranjit's house police found four bundles of 12 answer sheets of the university, suspected to be for copying. A seal of the physical education director was also found in the house.
Already, there have been allegations that there was foul play in two of the accused finding their way to the PSC list of selected candidates. Crime Branch is to look into the matter.
In the list of eight main accused, among over 30, just four have been arrested so far. There have been charges that they were being protected by the leadership and it is not possible to raid party offices.
Following an altercation between SFI leaders and undergraduate student Akhil who sang on the campus, he was stabbed in the chest. This led to widespread protests and students took out a procession and raised slogans against the SFI college unit leaders. The state leadership was forced to disband the unit immediately.
