Police asks Binoy Kodiyeri to undergo DNA test in sexual abuse case

Thiruvananthapuram/Mumbai, Jul 8 : Mumbai Police on Monday asked Binoy Kodiyeri, the elder son of CPI (M) Kerala Unit Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, to undergo a DNA test in connection with the sexual abuse case.

Binoy Kodiyeri who appeared before the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai this morning was asked to reach the station on Monday next to handover his blood samples for conducting the DNA test, sources said here. Earlier, the Dindoshi branch of Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court has granted anticipatory bail to him with strict conditions in the sexual abuse case.

In her complaint, the 33-year-old Bihari woman alleged that she was cheated by Binoy promising to marry her and she has a child from that relation. The woman also demanded a DNA test on Binoy to prove the relation. Earlier, Binoy claimed that the allegation was baseless and she had demanded Rs 5 crore compensation as part of blackmailing to get money from him.

According to Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, Binoy who married in 2008 had acquainted with the woman, a bar dancer, during his stay in Dubai. Later, she quit her job as requested by him and shifted to Andheri in Mumbai where he rented a house in 2010. Later, she got pregnant.

After coming to know that he is married, she distanced herself from him. Meanwhile, his father Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had said he or his party is not responsible for the omissions and commissions committed by his family. He said he or his party will not take a stand to protect his son and it is the responsibility of his son to prove his innocence in this regard. "As Binoy is an adult, I do not interfere in his personal life. The party can't take the responsibility of any mistake committed by the family. This was also explained by party general secretary Sitaram Yechury," he added. (UNI)
