CPM politburo member and Kerala party secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Binoy Kodiyeri has been granted anticipatory bail in the alleged rape case filed by a former Dubai dance bar girl in Mumbai.
Dindoshi sessions court, which heard the arguments of both the complainant and the accused over three days, granted bail on strict conditions. Binoy would have to furnish a security deposit of Rs 25,000 and would have to appear at the police station on all Mondays. If police demanded, he would have to undergo DNA test and hand over blood samples. He should, by no means, try to influence any witnesses, the court said.
Binoy had been accused by the woman of raping and sexually assaulting her after meeting her frequently at the Dubai dance bar. She said she has an eight-year-old girl of the relationship and since 2015, Binoy had stopped sending her money. When in 2018, she learnt that he was already married, she raised the matter with him and sought Rs 5 crore which Binoy refused to give. His mother and later he tried for a compromise. Finally she filed a complaint with Oshiwara police and an FIR was made against him.
