Mumbai court verdict on Binoy Kodiyeri’s advance bail plea put off to tomorrow

The Dindoshi sessions court in Mumbai today put off the passing of the ruling on CPM politburo member and Kerala secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Binoy Kodiyeri's anticipatory bail application to Tuesday.

The court heard the complainant, a former Dubai dance bar employee, who accused Binoy of rape and sexual assault.

The court, after getting in writing the arguments of the complainant on Monday, decided to hear Binoy Kodiyeri's advocate on Tuesday before pronouncing the verdict. Like last week, the court said Binoy should not be arrested till the verdict is given.

The complainant's advocate gave in writing more evidence to prove a strong relationship between the woman and Binoy, including the visit visa he emailed her.

The former dance bar girl had complained that Binoy had sexually assaulted her on the promise of marriage and she had an eight-year-old son in that relationship that started in 2008.

However, after 2015, he stopped sending her money claiming his business was dull. In 2018 when she learnt that he was already married, she raised the matter and demanded Rs 5 crore for the upkeep of the child.

Binoy refused to give her the money and his mother and he went to Mumbai to meet her for a compromise. After she refused for a compromise, the woman complained that she was threatened and even received death threats.

Separately, there was growing demand from certain quarters in the BJP for the Centre to look into the sources of Binoy's big money.
