Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 27: Kerala Government has decided to implement the Integrated Coastal Zone Management project in the State.
The Government has also decided to appoint Mr Kalai Arasan as Additional Director for the project, an official release said here on Wednesday. The project, with financial assistance from the World Bank, will be implemented by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
The project could help pave the way for a comprehensive resettlement of coastal people affected by sea erosion. It would help the state to seek exemption from the Centre on Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms, sources said. (UNI)
