Binoy Kodiyeri’s anticipatory bail verdict deferred to Monday

The Dindoshi sessions court in Mumbai deferred to Monday verdict on CPM politburo member and Kerala secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Binoy Kodiyeri's anticipatory bail application.

He has been accused of rape and sexual assault by a Dubai former dance bar girl on her complaint to Oshiwara police in Mumbai. The woman had a series of fresh evidence against Binoy and had appointed a new counsel. Binoy's advocate argued that it should not be allowed. However, the judge was for hearing both sides and asked them to submit their arguments in writing.

He also directed that till the verdict, Binoy should not be arrested till then. The former dance bar girl had complained that Binoy had sexually assaulted her on the promise of marriage and she had an eight-year-old son in that relationship that started in 2008.

Her counsel claimed that Binoy should not be granted anticipatory bail as he was a threat to her and the child's lives.Besides documents of her passport and that of the child which prove Binoy's relationship and details of the bank transactions, on Thursday she submitted tourist visas mailed to her by Binoy for visiting Dubai in 2015.

She had said in her complaint that she and the child were shifted to Mumbai in 2010 and Binoy had paid here regularly till 2015. Later in 2018 when she came to know that he was already married, she complained to Binoy and demanded Rs 5 crore for the child.

Binoy's mother and later Binoy came for compromise. She later received death threats. Mumbai police, which issued a lookout notice against Binoy, came to Kerala to arrest him but went back as he had gone into hiding.
