Kottayam, Jun 3: Kerala Government has ordered a probe into a women patient's allegation that she was administered the first dose of chemo medicine without confirming cancer at the Government Medical College hospital here.
State Health Minister KK Shylaja ordered the probe after receiving a complaint from the patient hailing from Alappuzha that she was treated on the basis of a test conducted at a private lab, sources said here on Monday.
Meanwhile, a lab report from the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram ruled out any signs of malignancy.
She was given treatment to avoid the further spread of disease, the sources in the health department clarified.
The patient said she was treated for cancer leading to major reaction include hair loss and darkening of skin.
The treatment was made without any valid medical proof that she was suffering from cancer, she alleged.
Meanwhile, the State Health Department sources said it will strictly implement the guidelines for cancer treatment in Kerala. (UNI)
