Ex-Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan passes away; CM condoles

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17: Veteran Congress leader and former Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan passed away at a private hospital here on Friday. He was 87.

Kadavoor Sivadasan represented Kollam and Kundara segments in the Assembly. He had served as Minister in the United Democratic Front (UDF) Governments led by late K. Karunakaran and Mr A.K. Antony. Sivadasan held Power, Forest, Excise, Health and Labour portfolios.

He started his political career through RSP and later joined Congress. His body was kept at Kollam DCC office to enable the public to pay homage and was later shifted to his residence at Anandavalleeswaram in Kollam.

The funeral will be held at Mulamkadakam crematorium in Kollam this evening.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the demise of Kadavoor Sivadasan.  In his condolence message, Mr Vijayan said, Sivadasan holds a strong influence among labourers in Kollam. Opposition Leader in the Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala also condoled the death of the Veteran Congress leader. (UNI)
