Thrissur, May 10: District Collector T.V. Anupama has made it clear that the elephants with symptoms of ‘musth’ will not be allowed for Thrissur pooram.
She added that such elephants will not be allowed to enter Swaraj Round on May 12, 13 and 14. Briefing about the preparation of Thrissur Pooram here on Thursday, she said elephants, which get panic with sounds also will not be allowed in the round.
However, the Collector did not make any comment specifically on Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran, an elephant banned from public ceremonies. A petition regarding parading of the elephant would be considered by the High Court on Friday, she said.
Earlier, Protesting the Forest Department’s move to ban tusker Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran from Thrissur Pooram, the Kerala Elephant Owners Federation had decided to withdraw all elephants from the festival.
Explaining the precautionary measures on pooram fireworks, she said that the strict control would be imposed on Swaraj round. People would be allowed only 100 m away from the fire line, she said.
She also made it clear that the level of sound pollution as well as air pollution will be checked during the fireworks display. Both the Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu Devaswoms have been allowed to use 2,000 kg of gun powder.
LED video walls will be installed in various positions in the city to watch pooram events, the Collector said.
