Thiruvananthapuram, May 9 : Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena on Thursday said the State DGP has been directed to probe the role of Kerala Police Association into the alleged postal ballot irregularity reported in connection with the April 23 Lok Sabha election.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Meena said the DGP has been directed to submit a detailed report in this regard within 15 days.It was alleged that the CPI-M backed Kerala Police Association had committed a foul play in the postal ballots of police officials who were deployed outside their home districts.
The CEO also recommend action against a police commando, Vaisakh, for sending WhatsApp images of postal ballots to his colleagues. The commando is at present posted at Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple.
Earlier, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded a repolling as Association leaders cast 90 per cent of 56,000 postal ballots of police officials. The Association leaders threatened the police officials and took their ballots for bogus voting. (UNI)
