Cyclone to trigger heavy rain in Kerala; Yellow alert issued in 4 Kerala districts

With a cyclonic storm brewing in the south Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for four districts on Monday.

In view of the heavy rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow alert in four districts of Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram districts on Monday, April 29.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued mudslide warnings in various districts of Kerala. The prone districts to mudslides are Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Palakkad. People should restrain themselves from travelling in hilly terrains of these districts from 7pm to 7am, a warning by KSDMA said.
