Kerala Congress (M) leader and former finance minister of Kerala, KM Mani passed away on Tuesday. He died in a private hospital in Kochi around 4.57 pm.
He was 86. From the first week of April, he was under treatment at Lakeshore Hospital for the respiratory-related illnesses. The veteran leader had been suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for many years and had an acute chest infection, according to a Medical Bulletin.
The longest serving member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly for 52 years, Mani represented the constituency of Pala in Kottayam district. He is the only politician to be elected from the same constituency for 13 times without any break.
