Thiruvananthapuram: After realising that the Alathur candidate Ramya Haridas made a good media appeal, the CPIM state leadership has expressed unhappy against LDF convenor Vijayragahavan over his lewd comment on Ramya.

CPIM state secretariat which met on Wednesday also urged leaders to be cautious while making public statements. The diatribe against Ramya Haridas by LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan as part of the election campaign kicked up a row. Vijayaraghavan's offensive was that Ramya had gone to seek the support and blessings of Muslim League leaders Panakkad Thangal and PK Kunhalikutty. About her meeting, Vijayaraghavan said she she first visited Thangal and then Kunhalikutty. “With this I cannot say what her plight can be now. It's all gone now,” he said.

The party state secretariat held the view that the LDF convener’s remarks were unnecessary at the time of elections. It’s like arming the opponents at the time of elections. The CPM leadership feels such unnecessary remarks should have been avoided.

Meanwhile, the CPM central committee member MC Josephine was highly critical of her response to Vijayaraghavan’s remark. The Women’s Commission chairperson was quick to reject the remark and stated the senior CPM leader should have been more cautious while making such remarks.

Administrative Reforms Commission chairman and senior CPM leader VS Achuthanandan on Wednesday termed the LDF convenor A Vijayaragavan remarks against UDF candidate Ramya Haridas in Alathur, inappropriate.
