The tusker, Thriprayar Balaraman, famous among festival lovers for his majestic look, breathed its last on Monday in Thrissur. 68-year-old Thriprayar Balaraman was famous for its permanent presence in Aarattupuzha pooram, one of the oldest temple festivals in Kerala. Some animal lovers alleged that the improper treatment is one of the major reasons behind its death.
For the past six months, the elephant had been unwell. An organization Heritage Animal Task Force (HATF) which is working towards the welfare of animals believed that some slip on the treatment was the reason behind the tusker’s death.
