Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 2: Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair has said his organisation will maintain equidistance policy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala.
As both the Central and the State Governments failed to protect the customs and traditions of Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala, the NSS will maintain equidistance from both the respective parties in power, he said in the latest editorial of "Service," the mouthpiece of NSS.
Both the BJP and the Congress treated Sabarimala as an issue for political gain. However, the NSS sees the Court is the only option for devotees to protect their belief.
Instead of legal options, the BJP tried to stop women entry through agitations and violence. Congress also staged agitations and sought legal options in the women entry issue.
The State witnessed a series of agitations followed by the September 28 SC verdict allowing women of menstruating ages into Lord Ayyappa temple.
The devotees will decide to whom they should vote for based on the performance of the three major political parties, LDF, UDF and NDA, the article said. UNI
