The arrival of Congress president Rahul Gandhi as candidate has forced the LDF and the BJP-led NDA to rework their strategies.
The BJP is considering replacing the present BDJS candidate Paili Vathyatt in Wayanad with someone stronger. From actor Suresh Gopi, MP, to party leaders MT Ramesh and B Gopalakrishnan, the lineup is long. Party state president PS Sreedharan Pillai told mediapersons that party national leader Amit Shah would take a final call on the matter today itself.
Separately, BDJS, the political arm of the Ezhava organisation SNDP, which has been allotted the Wayanad seat, is considering shifting its state president Thushar Vellappally from Thrissur to Wayanad. Indeed, Thushar has temporarily stopped his campaign in Thrissur
However, there is the likelihood of BJP taking over Wayanad.
Thushar had said earlier that in the event of Rahul deciding to contest from Wayanad, his party was willing to give the seat to BJP.
