Kozhikode, Mar 21: "It was not just on demand by my leadership and leaders of our coalition partners within United Democratic Front (UDF) alone but even left supporters desired my contesting from Vatakara Lok Sabha Constituency", said veteran Congress leader and UDF candidate in Vatakara LS constituency K Muraleedharan, MLA.
Addressing the media here on Thursday Mr Muraleedharan said the mood in Vatakara is such that many wanted the defeats of the CPI(M) candidate. Referring to the "CoLeBe" (Congress-League-BJP nexus) the former KPCC chief said the cliche is repeated by Marxist smelling defeat. The Congress' opponent is BJP and the election is between the two national parties.
The political fight with the LDF is against criminalism in politics. The CPI (M) had criminalized politics and no wonder people wanted to ensure the defeat of my LDF opponent, he said. Only Congress can ensure a secular governance at the centre, he added.UNI
