Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 12 : Former Meghalaya Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan, who had resigned to contest Lok Sabha election from here, was given a rousing welcome by the BJP workers at the State party office here on Tuesday.
BJP Kerla Unit President PS Sreedharan Pillai, Organising Secretary Sobha Surendran, District President Advocate Suresh and among other leaders received him earlier at the airport. Mr Rajasekharan, who was also former Kerala BJP President, was welcomed by hundreds of party workers on his arrival at the International Airport this morning.
Later, he was accompanied by party volunteers who took out a bike rally from the Airport to Pazhavangadi Ganapathy temple.
After offering prayers at the shrine, Kummanam called on Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram Director P Parameswaran at his office near Statue junction. Later, he reached BJP State office where he was given a rousing reception by the party leaders and workers.
BJP roped in Mr Rajasekharan to contest against Congress party's Dr Shashi Tharoor and CPI MLA C Divakaran from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat. The BJP leader who reached here from New Delhi this morning met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and sought his blessings before entering into poll fray. UNI
