Actor-writer Renji Panicker’s wife dies

Actor-cum-screenplay writer Renji Panicker's wife, Aneetta Miriam Thomas passed away on Sunday. She was 58.

Aneetta took her last breath in the wee hours of Sunday at 3.30 am at a private hospital in Chengannur. The cremation will take place at Mar Thoma church at Puthankavu in Chengannur on Monday at 12 noon.

Renji Panicker and his wife Aneetta were classmates during their journalism studies at Kerala University in Trivandrum. She is survived by two sons, Nithin Renji Panicker who is a director and Nikhil, an actor. For the last many years, Aneetta was under treatment for chronic kidney disease.

Renji Panicker has written screenplays for a host of blockbuster movies in Malayalam such as Dr. Pasupathy, Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans, Ekalavyan, Akasakottayile Sulthan, Thalasthanam, The King, Commissioner, Lelam, Dubai, The King&Commissioner, Pathram, Roudram etc. Later he turned into a successful actor in Malayalam with a clutch of movies under his belt such as Om Shanthi Oshana, Godha, Aadu, Ennum Eppozhum, Ayal Njanalla, Loham, Charlie, Pavada, Jacobinte Swargarajyam etc. Renji's action thriller film, 'Ekalavyan' contributed a powerful superstar, Suresh Gopi (currently a BJP Rajya Sabha MP), to Malayalam cinema.

Renji Panicker's son, Nithin Renji Panicker directed one movie 'Kasaba' in which Mammootty played the lead role.
