Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which created history after a record profit in January and helping it disburse salary from its own funds, has once again fallen into a financial crisis. This has affected salary distribution.
A KSRTC employee said on condition of anonymity that he and a number of his colleagues were yet to receive their salary. ”Given the January performance, we expected our salary on February 28 itself (the last working day of the month). But that has not happened. Sunday and Monday are holidays and our payment is unlikely to happen. We may have to wait till Tuesday,” he added.
According to officials, a government fund of Rs 20 crore was yet be got, hence the delay. During February, the revenue of KSRTC was only a shade above Rs 40 crore and the salary bill alone would be nearly double that. Unless the Government steps in, things would be back to square one, officials said.
