Calicut VC detained by MSF supporters, 8 injured in SFI-MSF clash

Kozhikode, Feb 28 : Consequent to the detention of the University Vice Chancellor by the supporters of the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the Calicut University campus on Thursday witnessed tension and clashes between the MSF and Students Federation of India (SFI).

Alleging sidelining the students affiliated to MSF in the on going C Zone Youth Festival, the MSF, the student wing of the Muslim League, gheraoed the Vice Chancellor at the senate house in the University campus.

Provoked over this, the activists of the SFI, the student arm of the ruling CPI(M), objected the agitation resulting in commotion and group fighting between the two rival union supporters, injuring eight students

The skirmishes between the two student union activists continued till the police rushed to the senate hall premises and put the situation under control. The injured students have been admitted in hospital, police sources said. (UNI)
