Kerala High Court has directed a woman judge to hear the actor abduction case in which Dileep is an accused.
CBI special court judge Honey Varghese will be hearing the case. The High Court accepted the victim actor's plea for a woman judge. However, Dileep opposed such a move which was rejected.
The court also directed quick trial and disposing of the case. It said hearing in the case would have to be completed in nine months. This would mean that verdict in the case would be pronounced by the end of the year.
It was on February 17, 2017, that the actor was abducted and sexually assaulted on her way back from work. Top star Dileep was accused of masterminding the assault. Dileep was questioned for 13 hours in June. Finally, on July 20, 2017, he was arrested and spent 85 days in jail and was finally granted bail on October 3.
Ever since then there have been charges of attempts by Dileep to delay the case by making a number demands at different times, including seeking a CBI probe into the case.
