Kasaragod Feb 26 : The prime accused and former CPI(M) local committee member A Peethambaran on Monday retracted from his earlier admission of his involvement in the double murder case.
Peethambaran, while presented before the court on Monday told the judge that he had nothing to do with the murder and it was under compulsion by the police that he had admitted. Peethambaran, who along with other accused in the case, has been remanded to two weeks judicial custody on Monday.
Peethambaran had earlier admitted that it was he who masterminded and executed the crime along with few others. Consequent to this, the CPI(M) had expelled him from party.
The family of Peethambaran, however, had raised their doubts on his admission and had told media that it was the party which must have 'plotted the crime'.
The involvement of Uduma MLA K Kunhiraman and other senior leaders of CPI(M) have been accused by the family of the two victims , Kripesh and Sarath Lal, who were hacked to death recently. (UNI)
