Double Murder: SIT gropes in dark in search for real culprits

Agency News

Kasaragod, Feb 20: Even as a Local Committee member of the CPI(M) was arrested and six others were taken into custody in connection with the Periya double murder case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is groping in the dark in search of the real culprits who had masterminded the crime and the ones that executed it foolproof.

Sources closely monitoring the developments said, there has been some cover-up in the investigation as the SIT failed to reach to the masterminds of the double murder. They alleged that the investigation has been limited to the Local Committee member Peethambaran and his aides but could not move further ahead to more leaders of the CPI(M), allegedly to have been involved in the double murder.

Though the SIT believe the nexus of a three-member goonda group had executed the murder, the LC member and six others in police custody is reported to have been taking all the responsibility by themselves, including the attack and hacking off the two youths. However, the Congress workers and relatives of the victims were not ready to take this without a pinch of salt.

And, the family of the LC member Peethambaran is also pointing its accusing fingers at the CPI(M) Peethambaran's wife and daughter, who it is reported to have accused the involvement of the party in the murder saying that the CPI(M) is fully aware of everything and it was the party which has masterminded the double murder.

Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister OOmmen Chandy had visited the houses of the two youth Congress activists, Kripesh and Sarath Lal, who were brutally killed on Sunday last at Periya in Kanhangad near here. (UNI)
